
K17 Security is hiring a Security Supervisor!
Reporting directly to the company CEO, this is a brand new position, serving as the right hand of the CEO to maintain standards of excellence as the company grows and operations become more complex.
The ideal candidate is action-oriented and responsive, able to balance having a plan and being prepared with adjusting to the needs of the moment. As a leader in a security company, it is critical to be calm under pressure and to operate with utmost integrity and transparency, taking ownership for decisions (including mistakes and their resolutions).
Position Summary:
The Security Supervisor is the tactical day-to-day leader. The role is responsible for the direct supervision of security team members, ensuring 100% post coverage, and maintaining expected standards. The role is a balance of administrative duties (scheduling, reporting) and active fieldwork, including site visits or posts as needed.
As the company grows, this position may evolve into a more senior Operations Supervisor or Security Operations Manager role, with responsibility for additional supervisors and sites.

Essential Functions:
Team Management: Ability to lead day-to-day operations through interaction, provide coaching and guidance to team members on a daily basis, including scheduling, licensing, and other concerns.
Operational Response: Ability to react immediately to alarms and emergencies. Rapid movement to incident sites and the ability to remain calm and decisive under high stress.
Effective Communication: Must clearly speak, read, and write English to issue commands during emergencies, document detailed legal reports, and interface with law enforcement and emergency responders.
Situational Awareness: Constant observation of the environment to detect subtle signs of danger, unauthorized access, or safety hazards using both direct vision and CCTV.
Access Control: Physically managing entry points, walking perimeters and properties, standing for extended periods, walking up and down steps, and walking distances for extended time frames.
Use of Force Readiness: Ability to and strictly adhere to the Use of Force Guidelines and use a firearm safely.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Operations
- Day to Day: Supervise and support a team of security guards, providing real-time direction, coaching, and guidance to ensure every post runs according to standards.
- Schedule Management: Build and maintain weekly staff schedules. Manage call-outs, time-off requests, and emergency coverage to ensure there are no open posts.
- Site Integrity: Conduct regular, random site inspections and post checks to verify officer alertness, uniform compliance, and adherence to Post Orders.
- Client Liaison: Serve as the point of contact for clients. Handle immediate service requests and de-escalate concerns, alert the CEO as needed.
2. Hiring, Onboarding & Training
- Talent Selection: Conduct field interviews with candidates to assess operational fit, demeanor, and reliability. Provide “Hire/No-Hire” recommendations to the CEO.
- Onboarding: Lead the on-site onboarding process for new hires. Ensure they have their uniform, know and have reviewed SOPs, understand the post orders, and feel welcomed.
- Field Training: Train and oversee new guards on site-specific protocols, safety hazards, and emergency procedures. Sign off on their readiness before leaving them unsupervised.
3. Standards & Compliance
- Performance Management: Monitor performance, provide feedback, document performance concerns, and escalate serious problems to the CEO/HR.
- Compliance: Ensure all K17 policies and Standards are followed by team members.
- License: Verify guard licensing as needed or directed and take necessary action if a valid license isn’t available. Provided sponsorship documentation, monitored the timing of guard licensing, and ensured all requirements were completed within mandated timeframes for each state.
4. Incident Response & Administration
- Emergency Response: Respond and assume leadership to critical incidents. Direct the team, secure the scene, and interface with First Responders.
- Reporting: Write, review, and approve reports for accuracy and detail before submission.
- Payroll Accuracy: Verify, approve, and submit timecards and attendance records weekly to ensure accurate payroll processing.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of armed security experience as a police officer, military, or similar role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity preferred.
- Must possess, or be eligible to obtain, all state-required Armed Security Guard and/or Handgun Carry permits. Must maintain renewals through entire employment.
- Ability to train and mentor security team members.
- Demonstrated reliability and work ethic, with a track record of dependable attendance and punctuality.

- Ability to plan schedules, juggle competing coverage needs, and solve problems quickly under time pressure.
- Clear, professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with both front‑line team members and client contacts.
- Microsoft Office (scheduling software, spreadsheets, emails, chats, and incident report templates).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and on‑call coverage.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record required.
Physical Requirements
- Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol on foot for up to 90% of a shift (8–12 hours), on various surfaces (concrete, stairs, uneven terrain).
- Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Mobility: Must be able to climb stairs rapidly, run short distances for emergencies, crouch, kneel, and bend.
- Sensory: Vision correctable to 20/20 with normal depth perception. Ability to hear alarms and radio transmissions in noisy environments.
- Environment: Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat).
