The Workplace Investigator plays a critical role in protecting both people and the organization by ensuring that every concern is handled consistently, objectively, and with care. This is not a reactive role. It is a disciplined, process-driven function grounded in structure, documentation, and truth.
This position is responsible for conducting thorough, unbiased investigations into workplace concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other employee relations matters. Every investigation follows a defined methodology supported by standardized templates, controlled workflows, and clear documentation protocols.
This role requires both professional maturity and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with clarity, discretion, and conviction.
Key Responsibilities
- On-site investigator available to be deployed 24/7 to our clients nationally.
- All work will be conducted using IHN HR’s structured investigation framework
- Conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and subjects using standardized interview templates
- Gather and analyze documentation, communications, and relevant evidence
- Maintain strict neutrality and ensure all findings are fact-based and defensible
- Follow defined investigation protocols to ensure consistency across all cases
- Document all steps of the investigation process using controlled templates and systems
- Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported investigation reports
- Partner with leadership to communicate findings and recommended next steps
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and organizational policies
- Maintain confidentiality while balancing the organization’s responsibility to act
Investigation Process Discipline
All investigations are conducted through a structured and repeatable process, including:
- Standardized intake procedures
- Pre-defined interview frameworks
- Controlled documentation templates
- Evidence tracking protocols
- Consistent reporting formats
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in HR, employee relations, or workplace investigations
- Demonstrated experience handling sensitive and complex employee issues
- Strong understanding of employment law and compliance requirements
- Exceptional interviewing, documentation, and analytical skills
- Ability to remain neutral and objective in emotionally charged situations
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment
- Experience working within structured systems and defined processes
