About the Role
St Raphael’s Catholic School, Cowra, is seeking an experienced Visual Arts
Consultant to support Stage 6 Visual Arts students as they develop and refine
their Bodies of Work.
Working alongside and under the direction of the responsible Visual Arts
teacher, the consultant will provide specialist artistic advice, technical
guidance and practical support across a range of art forms and media. The
consultant will help students explore creative concepts, develop their practical
skills and refine their artworks.
The Visual Arts Consultant will:
* Provide specialist advice and technical guidance across a range of art forms
and media.
* Support students with concept development, material exploration and the
practical execution of their artworks.
* Provide constructive artistic feedback to help students clarify their
creative intentions and refine their work.
* Demonstrate relevant artistic techniques and the safe use of materials, tools
and equipment.
* Assist students to identify practical solutions to creative and technical
challenges.
* Share professional knowledge and contemporary artistic practices with
students.
* Work collaboratively with the Visual Arts teacher and follow the teacher’s
direction when supporting students.
* Contribute to an inclusive, encouraging and respectful creative environment.
The Visual Arts Consultant will not be responsible for curriculum planning or
delivery, assessing or reporting on student achievement, ensuring compliance
with NESA requirements, classroom management or supervising students. These
responsibilities will remain with the appropriately qualified teacher.
About You
We are looking for someone who can address the following selection criteria:
* Demonstrated experience as a practising visual artist, arts practitioner or
visual arts specialist.
* Strong practical knowledge and experience across one or more visual art forms
or media, such as painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, digital art or
mixed media.
* The ability to provide practical, constructive and age-appropriate artistic
guidance to senior secondary students.
* The ability to demonstrate artistic techniques and support students in the
safe use of relevant materials, tools and equipment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build
positive and respectful relationships with students and staff.
* The ability to work collaboratively with, and under the direction of, the
responsible Visual Arts teacher.
* A commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for
young people.
* A willingness to support the mission, values and ethos of Catholic education.

agreement.
