Description
POSITION PURPOSE: To partner with the Director of Kids Ministry in cultivating a safe, nurturing, and Gospel-centered environment for children ages birth through 5th grade. This role supports the spiritual formation of young children by caring for them with excellence, fostering early experiences of God’s love, and equipping parents and serving partners within the covenant community of the church.

POSITION OUTCOMES/EXPECTATIONS:
Discipleship and Formation
Oversee all aspects of Wednesday Night programming
Teach and reinforce a biblically faithful, Reformed understanding of Scripture, emphasizing God’s redemptive plan through creation, fall, redemption, and restoration
Present the Gospel clearly, calling children to repentance and faith, while nurturing covenant children in their identity in Christ
Integrate catechism, Scripture memory, doctrinal teaching, and prayer into regular programming
Oversee implementation of curriculum that is theologically sound, age-appropriate, and aligned with Reformed doctrine
Manage preparation and distribution of curriculum and supplies with excellence and intentionality
Identify and coordinate missional living opportunities
Covenant Community
Cultivate a safe and hospitable environment where children are known, loved, and discipled within the life of the church
Foster a culture of belonging that reflects the covenant family of God—marked by friendship, encouragement, confession, and joy
Build meaningful relationships with children and families
Equipping Parents and Serving Partners
Encourage and equip parents as the primary disciplers of their children, reinforcing the home as the central place of spiritual formation
Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers and childcare employees to faithfully teach Scripture, build relationships, and model a life of repentance and faith
Oversee serving partner and childcare employee scheduling, communication, and development
Cultivate a “surrogate family” culture where multiple generations invest in the spiritual growth of children
Events & Logistics
Maintain programming space environments, ensuring spaces are clean, safe, well-equipped, and properly stocked
Assist in managing the Wednesday Night budget with stewardship and accountability
Assist in planning and executing major ministry events that reinforce discipleship, community, and outreach
Partner with other ministry teams to execute shared ministry initiatives and advance the discipleship of people across all stages of life.
Support the integration of children and families into the broader life of the church, including worship, home groups, and service opportunities
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience and Skills
At least 1-3 years work experience in ministry or teaching
Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a leadership team through effective leadership of assigned roles and the recruitment, training, and equipping of volunteer and ministry leaders
Possess strong inter-relational skills that develop relationships with parents, volunteers, and other staff members
Possess a natural ability to train, empower, and equip serving partners into leaders
Able to oversee and track department specific monthly and yearly budget
Requirements
