Summary

At IHN HR, the Human Resources Partner delivers high-quality human resources services directly to clients across churches, Christian businesses, Christian education, ministries, and nonprofits. This role is both strategic and operational, requiring the ability to provide leadership-level HR guidance while also executing the day-to-day HR work necessary to support client needs.

The Human Resources Partner is responsible for delivering services in alignment with IHN HR’s standards, systems, and Faith Driven HR principles. The role supports clients in strengthening HR infrastructure, navigating employee-related matters, improving compliance, implementing practical solutions, and aligning people practices with organizational mission and business needs.

This position requires professional maturity, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage a wide range of sensitive, strategic and routine HR matters with clarity, consistency, and care.

 

Essential Functions

Client Partnership and Service Delivery

  • Serve as the primary or supporting HR contact for assigned clients.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with client leadership and key stakeholders
  • Represent IHN HR with professionalism, consistency, and service excellence in all client interactions.
  • Provide timely communication, updates, recommendations, and follow-through on client matters.
  • Deliver work in accordance with IHN HR standards, systems, templates, and service methodology.
  • Support client needs across both strategic advisory engagements and tactical HR execution.

Strategic HR Advisory

  • Advise leaders on HR strategy, workforce planning, organizational structure, and role design.
  • Provide guidance related to staffing models, compensation, organizational growth, and workforce planning.
  • Support leadership decision-making through practical HR insight, sound judgment, and risk awareness.
  • Assist clients with employee relations strategy, culture development, engagement initiatives, and leadership support.
  • Support leadership development efforts and broader organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Provide outplacement or career transition support services as assigned.
  • Support workforce transitions, restructuring efforts, and other sensitive organizational changes.

Tactical HR Execution

  • Advice organization on compliant personnel files and HR documentation.
  • Assist with HR workflows, systems, records, and reporting processes.
  • Prepare client-facing HR documentation, forms, letters, and employee communications.
  • Help build, refine, or improve HR infrastructure to support client operations and compliance.
  • Provide full cycle recruitment services and other related hiring services.
  • Evaluate client recruiting practices and recommend process improvements.

Employee Relations, Investigations, and Title IX

  • Conduct or support workplace investigations.
  • Provide Title IX coordination support.
  • Document findings, observations, and recommendations in a clear, neutral, and professional manner.
  • Handle sensitive employee matters with discretion, objectivity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Advise on and/or compose employee relations documentation aligning with the organization’s discipline process.
  • Advise and support offboarding and terminations.

Compliance, Policy, and Training

  • Develop, review, and update employee handbooks, policies, and related HR documents.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Advise clients on policy interpretation, documentation practices, and practical application.
  • Identify potential compliance concerns and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Deliver HR trainings and related educational sessions for clients.
  • Support implementation of HR programs, systems, and initiatives.
  • Provide reporting, follow-up, and practical insight on program effectiveness and improvement opportunities.

Project and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of work performed.
  • Provide regular updates to IHN HR leadership regarding client activity, status, and needs.
  • Support the completion of HR Assessments, HRImpact360, and related initiatives.
  • Ensure work product is completed accurately, professionally, and within expected timelines.
  • Escalate concerns, risks, or client issues.

 

Work Structure and Billing Alignment

The Human Resources Partner is expected to perform work across two service categories: Strategic HR Services and Tactical HR Services.

Strategic HR Services include leadership guidance, organizational strategy, and higher-level advisory work, while Tactical HR Services include implementation, execution, administrative support, and day-to-day HR delivery.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of experience in human resources, employee relations, HR consulting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience providing HR support in both strategic and operational capacities.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, HR compliance, and employee relations practices.
  • Experience developing policies, handbooks, HR documentation, and workplace processes.
  • Ability to build credibility with leadership and serve as a trusted advisor.
  • Strong written communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Experience supporting multiple clients, business units, or organizational environments is preferred.
  • Experience supporting faith-based, nonprofit, education, or mission-driven organizations is helpful.

This position requires strict confidentiality regarding client information, employee relations matters, investigations, HR records, compensation data, and other sensitive organizational information. All work must be performed with integrity, professionalism, neutrality where appropriate, and appropriate discretion.

Like all IHN HR representatives, the Human Resources Partner is expected to support and reflect the mission, vision, values, and Faith Driven HR principles. Responsibilities are carried out in alignment with principles including integrity and stewardship, accountability and leadership, respect for individuals, and alignment between faith and workplace practices.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role is primarily performed in a professional office, remote, or client-site environment. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment, communicate clearly in person and virtually, and occasionally lift or move materials of up to 15 pounds. Partner Description Travel Requirements

Travel may be required based on client assignment, training delivery, investigations, on-site support needs, or other business requirements. Travel expectations may vary depending on client portfolio and organizational needs.
