Position Summary

If you love to help people learn how to budget and manage money, become a Financial Empowerment Coordinator with e4c. This work focuses on building capacity to reduce poverty and empower people to improve their lives. We work alongside vulnerable populations in Edmonton to build their personal finance skills and assets.This role splits focus between coordinating free tax services under the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVIP) [https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/community-volunteer-income-tax-program.html] , and facilitating practical financial literacy workshops around Edmonton.

Schedule

* Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (full-time, office hours) 
* Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, with adjusted scheduling 

Key Responsibilities

* Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging financial literacy workshops tailored to people experiencing low income, housing instability, and challenging circumstances.
* Coordinate, schedule, and set up community income tax clinics.
* Act as a liaison with the Canada Revenue Agency for the CVIP program.
* Train and support community tax volunteers, ensuring proper use of CVIP tax software and strict adherence to data confidentiality.
* Assist participants with navigating and accessing federal and provincial benefits, subsidies, and income supports.
* Develop accessible, up-to-date financial literacy materials and resources.
* Conduct financial literacy outreach, build relationships with shelter managers, housing providers, and community agencies. 
* Track program outcomes, draft documents and communicate using Microsoft Office apps.

Qualifications

Education

* Post secondary education in Business, Human Services, Education, Human Ecology, Communications, or Political Science 

Certification

* Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and vehicle
* Proof of vehicle insurance, registration and 3-year drivers abstract.

Experience

* 2+ years of experience in human services or financial literacy.
* Strong understanding of personal taxation. Experience coordinating or volunteering with the tax clinics would be preferred.
* Facilitation skills and experience to deliver engaging, accessible workshops for diverse audiences.
* Ability to explain complex financial concepts in plain language and adapt content for low literacy audiences.
* Highly organized, capable of managing multiple project timelines and volunteer cohorts.
* Strong understanding of personal finance, social assistance and income benefits.
