Job Title:             Emmanuel Home & Domestic Adoption Coordinator
Department:       Christian Adoption Services
Reports To:         Domestic Adoption & Emmanuel Home Supervisor
FLSA Status:       Hourly / Nonexempt

SUMMARY

The Emmanuel Home & Domestic Adoption Coordinator serves in a dual-role position responsible for the daily operations of Emmanuel Home and the support of its residents. In addition to managing the home and its program, this position provides services to expectant and birth parents within the assigned region as part of the Domestic Adoption team.

This role requires strong organizational abilities, goal‑oriented planning, resident oversight, and a patient, compassionate presence. The coordinator must consistently demonstrate the agency’s purpose, philosophy, policies, and procedures. The work is intensive, meaningful, challenging, and deeply rewarding.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work OR
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year of directly related experience; OR
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of directly related experience. 
Spanish speaking is not required, but is a plus.
 
* Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy, and treatment planning. 

Other:
Minimum of 25 years of age.
Preferred experience as a residential worker and/or demonstrates the ability and motivation to learn and practice basic skills.
Valid driver’s license and be able to operate an agency vehicle to transport residents without restrictions.
Knowledge of first aid and CPR
Must have the capability to manage, plan, organize, implement, monitor, and maintain agency programs.
Meets the general qualifications for employment as outlined in the institution’s personnel policies.
Respects the cultural diversity of residents in care and strives to create a positive relationship.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EMMANUEL HOME COORDINATOR:
 
HOUSEHOLD
Manages the Emmanuel Home and models positive living.
Develops, implements, reviews, and revises a plan of service for each client.
Manages the household, enforcing house rules.
Provides daily interaction, mentoring, and lay counseling.
Implement, oversee, and participate in the housekeeping schedule.
Perform additional cleaning tasks as needed.
Monitor client behavior.
Assist with special needs per service plans.
Conduct tours through the home and provide information about the program.
Transport Clients to appointments, work, and school when required.
Lead periodic house meetings.
Schedule quarterly safety drills.
Maintain a household first aid kit.
Routinely check smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
Follow purchasing guidelines and submit receipts.
Ensure OSHA compliance.
Other duties as assigned.

CASE MANAGEMENT FOR THE EMMANUEL HOME:
Conduct client orientation and complete client admissions paperwork and documentation.
Submit bi-weekly life skills reports to supervisor.
Participate in service plan development.
Assist with money management and maintain financial records.
Facilitate team meetings, individual meetings with the supervisor, and general staff meetings.
Participate in trainings and workshops.
Handle emergencies efficiently, utilizing conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to ensure the safety of all residents during regular business hours, after-hours, and on weekends.
Support residents in developing a Self-Improvement Plan; meeting weekly with residents to monitor progress towards goals.
Maintain electronic health records in Extended Reach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DOMESTIC ADOPTION COORDINATOR
Provides intake services.
Increases awareness and coordinates services with community organizations assisting women in unintended pregnancies.

CASE MANAGEMENT FOR THE DOMESTIC ADOPTION COORDINATOR:
Provides case management for expectant and birth parents as well as their extended family members, as deemed appropriate.
Provides information and guidance for expectant mothers as requested for themselves and their children after birth.
Maintain records and documentation in eAdopt.

Supervision:
Prepares for and participates in regular supervisory conferences
Participates in 90-day and annual staff performance evaluations
Keeps supervisor informed on current status of total work responsibilities

Represents the institution to various individuals, groups, and the public in a professional manner.
Maintains professional standards as set by the institution.
Have the commitment and the capacity to build and maintain individual and group relationships with the various teams within the Emmanuel Home and Domestic Adoption Program.
Respects the rights of the total team and keeps other team members informed of any changes in the home.
Works under the supervision of the assigned supervisor.
Respects the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of staff members and clients in care and strives to create a positive relationship within BCH.
Participates in the agency’s Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program as needed.

EQUIPMENT:
Ability to operate standard office machines such as copier, computer, fax, calculator, etc. Ability to work within Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Gmail, and Google software programs.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and complete necessary documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, resources and the general public.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Regular contact with colleagues in all departments, as well as with outside individuals and groups; should represent Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina and Christian Adoption Services, a ministry of Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina in a positive manner. Properly handle contacts and situations outside of the agency as this is of utmost importance as the agency’s image could be affected.

MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITIORY DEMAND:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and ability to draw conclusions.
