Position Statement

As we continue to serve churches, Christian schools, ministries, and faith driven businesses, the complexity of employment law, compliance, and benefits continues to grow. Our clients are not just looking for HR support. They are looking for guidance they can trust. They want to know they are protected, but also that their policies and practices reflect who they are and what they believe.

At the same time, as we explore the development of a faith-aligned medical benefits captive, it is critical that we build a strong legal and compliance foundation from the beginning. This must be done with excellence, integrity, and a deep understanding of both regulatory requirements and religious considerations.

For these reasons, IHN HR is establishing an In House Legal and Compliance Advisor role. This position will allow us to better serve our clients, strengthen our internal capabilities, and ensure that everything we build is done the right way.

This is not just about legal protection. This is about stewardship, responsibility, and creating solutions that honor God while serving people well.

 

Scope of Work

Benefits of Captive Legal Support

  • Assist in reviewing captive structure documentation
  • Support development of plan documents, including SPDs and governance language
  • Coordinate with external ERISA counsel and captive specialists
  • Ensure compliance alignment with religious exemption positioning
  • Lead captive launch and serve as liaison between IHN HR and captive partners

Risk Mitigation and Advisory

  • Identify legal exposure across client organizations and internal operations
  • Provide proactive recommendations to reduce liability
  • Support sensitive or complex employee situations as they arise

Support IHN HR client engagements

  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters when needed
  • Assist in developing compliant HR structures aligned with client values
  • Review HR Organizational Assessment findings and identify legal risk areas
  • Draft, review, and maintain HR related legal documents
  • Employee handbooks
  • Employment agreements
  • Non-compete and confidentiality agreements
  • Workplace policies and investigation documentation

Internal Infrastructure and Training

  • Train the internal team on legal and compliance best practices
  • Serve as an internal advisor on strategic initiatives and growth opportunities
  • Develop standardized legal templates for scalability
