Description:

Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF), the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in the South Florida region with facilities and medical practices spanning from the Florida Keys to Palm Beach County, is seeking an experienced physician executive to serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Bethesda Hospital East and Bethesda Hospital West. The Chief Medical Officer will provide executive and clinical leadership across both hospitals, with a focus on advancing clinical performance, quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, physician engagement, and continuous performance improvement.
Provide executive and clinical leadership for Bethesda Hospital East and Bethesda Hospital West, supporting clinical performance improvement, quality, and patient safety initiatives across both campuses.
Develop, organize, evaluate, and implement strategies and initiatives that enhance clinical quality, patient outcomes, safety, and overall organizational performance.
Provide executive oversight of clinical services and contracted physician services across both hospitals.
Partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Performance Improvement leadership, Medical Staff leaders, physicians, and other key stakeholders to operationalize quality and patient safety strategies.
Lead and support ongoing performance improvement plans for clinical and patient care services, identifying opportunities to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
Ensure Medical Staff practices and processes remain compliant with applicable state and federal regulations, accreditation requirements, and Baptist Health South Florida standards.
Support organizational performance and improvement efforts related to Leapfrog, HCAHPS, CMS Star Ratings, and other nationally recognized quality, safety, and patient experience measures.
Collaborate with Medical Staff leadership to strengthen physician engagement, accountability, clinical excellence, and alignment with hospital and system priorities.
Provide leadership and oversight related to clinical research and Investigative Review Board activities, as applicable.
Evaluate clinical performance data and partner with clinical and operational leadership to develop and implement sustainable performance improvement strategies.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across Bethesda Hospital East and Bethesda Hospital West.
Actively participate in the Baptist Health South Florida system-wide CMO Council under the guidance of the System Chief Medical & Quality Officer.
Qualifications:

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Florida, or eligibility to obtain Florida licensure.
Minimum of 3–5 years of previous Chief Medical Officer experience within a hospital or healthcare system.
Demonstrated physician executive leadership experience within an acute-care hospital or healthcare organization.
Experience in clinical performance improvement, patient safety, quality, clinical research, and Investigative Review Board activities.
Experience with and knowledge of Leapfrog, HCAHPS, CMS Star Ratings, and other healthcare quality and performance standards.
Strong understanding of state and federal healthcare regulations, Medical Staff operations, regulatory compliance, and accreditation standards.
Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with physicians, nursing leadership, hospital executives, and multidisciplinary clinical and operational teams.
Proven ability to lead organizational change, improve clinical outcomes, engage physicians, and advance a culture of quality and patient safety.
