About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
 
The Adviser, Communications Hub is part of the Channels, Content & Design unit within the Communications Division. The role helps ensure Ministry staff have access to the tools, guidance, training and support they need to undertake communications activities effectively, efficiently and safely. 
 
You’ll work across the Ministry and with colleagues throughout the Communications Division to develop practical resources, support capability-building initiatives and help coordinate communications requests. You’ll play a key role in maintaining communications standards and guidance, improving processes and ensuring staff can easily access the information and support they need. 
 
This is a varied role that combines problem solving, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement. 
 
You will: 

Develop and maintain communications standards, guidance, templates and tools. 

Support the development and maintenance of a knowledge base of communications resources and approved content. 

Contribute to communications training and capability-building initiatives across the Ministry. 

Work with communications advisers, account managers and Unit Managers to help coordinate, triage and allocate communications requests. 

Gather feedback and insights to improve communications processes, guidance, tools and services. 

Support staff across Wellington and Posts to access and use communications resources effectively. 

Build relationships across the Ministry to understand communications needs and identify opportunities for improvement. 

Support the effective operation of the Ministry’s digital communications channels when required, including website and social media publishing activities.

The full salary range for this role is $73,788 to $81,987 total remuneration, inclusive of our KiwiSaver employer contribution.
 
A higher duties allowance (HDA) may be paid only when staff are acting up into a more senior role for a period of two or more weeks. HR POLICY PORTFOLIO

We’d like to hear from you if have the following skills and experience: 
 

Experience in digital communications, marketing, engagement or a related field. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to turn complex information into plain English. 

Experience developing or maintaining guidance materials, templates, tools or knowledge resources. 

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. 

Good stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective working relationships. 

An interest in improving processes, services and ways of working. 

Knowledge of digital communications channels and content publishing practices. 

Sound judgement and problem-solving skills. 

An understanding of the Machinery of Government and government decision-making processes. 

Experience creating video content for digital channels would be an advantage. 

Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial.
