Position Summary: The Lead Teacher for Academy Adventures is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an enriching after-school program for Lower School students. This role supports the academic, social, and emotional development of children. It involves leading and supervising a team of assistant teachers, ensuring a safe and engaging environment, and fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff.

Responsibilities:

Primary:
Program Planning and Implementation – 15%
Develop and execute a diverse curriculum that includes academic support, recreational activities, arts and crafts, and other enriching experiences.
Ensure activities are age-appropriate, safe, and meet children’s developmental needs.
Supervision and Leadership – 10%
Lead and supervise assistant teachers and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and feedback.
Conduct regular team meetings to discuss program goals, student progress, and address any issues or concerns.
Student Engagement and Management – 45%
Create a positive, inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Effectively manage student behavior using positive discipline techniques and promptly address any issues.
Communication – 10%
Maintain open, effective communication with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and program activities.
Collaborate with school staff and administration to ensure alignment with school policies and goals.
Safety and Compliance – 20%
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Keep accurate records of attendance, incidents, and other necessary documentation

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
Required Experience:
2+ years of experience in an educational or ministry setting, focused on working with kids.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to develop and implement engaging, educational activities.
Proficiency in conflict resolution and behavior management.
Strong multitasking skills.
Travel: This position requires no travel.

Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment and will routinely use standard office equipment such computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. The work environment also involves working in a Preschool-12 Private Christian School and Evangelical Church environment and all employees are expected to have a demonstrated and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This position must be able to engage in physical activities with children, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Working Hours: Typically, employees are expected to work during normal hours and days of business, between Monday and Friday. Specific expectations for each position will be communicated by the supervisor of this position. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. This position works 15 hours per week and 10 months of the year.
